And I’m here to tell you that, NO, he won’t be the Prince Charming you imagined.

Well, I would like to start off by saying that just as we girls struggle to fit into (or rebel against) the ‘girlfriend’ image most boys have in their heads, men too, have been facing the same problem since ages now. But few people actually acknowledge it! So here I am dear best friend, trying to get you to stop chasing the guys who don’t deserve you one bit and to enlighten you on the kind of love that’s meant for you, the type of boy who I hope will one day, break the superficial ‘perfect boyfriend’ image resting in your mind.

No, he won’t call you beautiful like it’s your name; but the rare times he does, you’ll feel the love radiating from each syllable.

The first thing I wish you understood is that we never find our soul mates. Ever. Instead, we find people who are worth the wait, the struggle, and all the pain. You too will find someone like that. And when you do, you’ll realize why it never worked out with anybody else; maybe then, you can call him your soul mate.

Moreover, judging from the masculine capacity of understanding the female brain, I’ll tell you this: No, he won’t call you beautiful like it’s your name; but the rare times he does, you’ll feel the love radiating from each syllable. I surely cannot predict whether the boy you deserve will be tall, dark and handsome. But I know for certain that he’ll make you want to work for the fairy tale ending you always dreamt of.

The only thing that matters is that he protects your heart fiercely and replaces the late nights on a tear-stained pillow with his shoulder.

Personally, I feel that the whole ‘opposites attract’ phenomenon is a bit far-fetched. Don’t you think? After all, we never know to whom our heart will get attached to next. So maybe your ‘one and only’ will be a bit closed up to new people just like you. Or who knows? He could be totally different altogether! The only thing that matters is that he protects your heart fiercely and replaces the late nights on a tear-stained pillow with his shoulder. Because I know you’d do the same for him as well.

The love you deserve dear soul sister, won’t cross oceans for you, he’d sit by your side and listen to you rant about the same things over and over again (the way I do!). He’d treat you just right. Maybe not extravagantly with rom-com inspired gestures. But just the way he ought to. You may wake up to horrific snores instead of a model-like face or come home to a fussy eater and numerous relationship issues. But none of it would matter. Because being with him would be a hundred times better than the single life you had where he didn’t exist.

He would be your choice, the well-deserved relief to all those parched years of hurt and disappointment. But like I’ve mentioned before, let him take his time and you take yours. Let the expectations be at bay while you patiently wait for him. Because the boy you deserve should deserve you back too. And hopefully, under girl code, you won’t forget me once you find him. Sisters before Misters right?

Cheers to the fixer-upper who’ll be perfect for you,

Your friend for life.
