They sat at their favourite bench in the park.
The children playing around and the couples getting cozy made them laugh. Just like they laughed together in college.
Time really had stood still and age was just a number for the two best friends.
When the two were together, suddenly everything seemed funny. Suddenly, her nose didn’t seem so misshapen and his boss didn’t seem so bad. Everything felt better!
They even laughed about how he didn’t have the courage to propose to the girl he loved.
The dripping ice cream in their hands seemed funny too.
But they were so much more. They had laughed together and cried too. They would speak about love, life and everything in general.
She – So, are you going to propose to her or what? And are you ever going to tell me her name?
He – I’m waiting for the right time.
She – If you keep waiting for the right time, you will be waiting forever.
He looked at her for a second and then looked away. The old couple walking hand in hand a few feet away suddenly seemed so much braver than him. Did he really not have the courage to do it?
It was now or never!
He stood up, put one knee on the ground and removed the key ring from his bunch of keys.
She looked at him in utter disbelief.
He – Will you marry me?
