She felt lonely tonight. Lying in bed alone, miles away from the one person she loved the most!

She couldn’t sleep!

No amount of counting sheep in her head or drinking warm milk made her fall back to sleep. So she got out of bed, brought out her diary, her favorite pen and started writing furiously.

She – “Dear,

It’s been so long since I left you behind. It’s been so long since I last saw your beautiful face. You know I have too much pride in me to say that I miss you but here I am, writing this letter to you.

I can’t help but think about all those nights you would sit awake and worried when I’d fall ill. I would sleep sound with my head on your lap. When you were by my side, it gave me a kind of assurance more than dependence.

And now, I lie awake in bed, alone and miserable.

As promised, I became successful and earned all the riches that the city had promised. But little did I know it would come with such a big toll!

I would’ve rather lived with you, happily than in the city, successful but lonely. I wish I would’ve written this letter long ago.

Love,

Your Daughter.”

She folded the letter, neatly put it into an envelope with her mother’s address on it and mailed it the next morning.

Little did she know, a few days later, a postman holding the same letter in his hand would push the slightly ajar door and find her mother’s body fallen on the floor with a pool of blood around her.

Maybe she should have sent the letter a little earlier!
