She still remembered the day he had proposed to her.
She had to work overtime today. No amount of requesting made her boss lessen the work load.
But she had worked overtime before. Why was today so bad?
It was her and her boyfriend’s 5th anniversary!
She punched the keys on her keyboard harder than necessary. As time passed, everyone left the office. She was alone.
She went to speak to her boss one last time to see if she could leave. But as she walked out of her cabin, she gasped in surprise.
The entire office was decorated with candles and balloons. And her favourite music was playing softly in the background. He stood in the centre, on one knee, with a ring in his hand.
He – My lover or my soul mate; what do you want to be?
She – Your last!
And she ran to hug him!
It had been 10 years since that day. 10 years since he proposed. 10 years since they got married! And now he was asking for a divorce because he loved someone else?
She couldn’t stand the thought of him being with another woman. It killed her to even imagine!
She looked at the clock. It was almost time! She walked into the bedroom with his usual coffee. He smiled and took the mug.
He was reading the news as he drank the coffee when suddenly the mug fell from his hand and broke into pieces. He fell off the chair and held his chest. White foam came out of his mouth and he looked up at her for help but couldn’t speak. He stretched his arm towards her.
She looked at him.
She – I had told you I’ll be your last.
She smiled and walked away!
