They sat together at the front porch in their favourite rocking chairs!
He – I’ve been noticing since a few days, you’re not your usual chirpy self. What’s the matter?
She heaved a huge sigh and rocked back and forth looking at the sky.
He sat waiting patiently.
Moments later, she spoke.
She – I can’t help but think about how he just left me like this. After all I’ve done for him!
He – It’s been so long. What’s hurting you so much?
She stopped her rocking abruptly.
She – When I come to think of it, I realize I had been investing in empty hopes and promises. That hurts me the most!
He smiled and lovingly placed his hand on hers. She looked at him.
He – But if you really think about it, it was all for good. If he hadn’t left you here, we wouldn’t have met.
Her wrinkled cheeks turned pink as she blushed. He smiled!
With him, even the old age home felt like their little mansion.
Somewhere in the back of her mind, she thanked her son!
